Ice Doesn't Thaw Instantly
The Longer it Stays Frozen, The More Time It Needs to Defrost
So I’m at work and I see my colleague is worked up about something. When I show interest in what the issue is, she goes “why is my drink still frozen?”
I ask “wasn’t that in the freezer for the past 3 days?”
She says yes.
Then I ask her how long it had been out of the freezer.
She said only a few minutes.
Then I say “how are you expecting something that has been frozen for 3 days to completely thaw out after a few minutes?”
And that’s when it hit me. The whole situation became an analogy for a deeper conversation.
Then I began to engage myself in a little conversation, asking myself some questions.
Some of us have remained in one state for so long and we are expecting that we can just snap out of it immediately. Or we have developed a habit for so long and we think that we can just bring ourselves to quit immediately.
But it mostly doesn’t work like that. The longer time a person spends in a perpetual state, the more work it takes to come out of it.
For someone, maybe your altar is just like my colleague’s drink. Frozen solid from months of inactivity. And now, you have brought yourself out of the freezer and hoping that your fire can burn like wildfire after a few minutes of prayer. Yes, you are actually thawing, but it’s going to take extra consistency and dedication to devotion to burn hot. And by the grace of the Holy Spirit, it is possible to get that altar on fire again.
For another person, you have battled with a negative habit for years and you think it is going to just end. But it doesn’t. You keep trying and you still fall. Don’t give up. Get up and go again. You are actually making slow progress. Your brain has only gotten used to the habit. It will take time to deprogram yourself and again, the help of the Spirit to totally bin it and develop a better habit.
Getting yourself out of the freezer is the first and easiest step. Giving yourself time and grace to thaw and become a new and better person is where the work lies. It may take time, but you will become unfrozen for as long as you don’t get back into the freezer.
And you know proximity to a source of heat speeds up the defrosting process. This is the cue for you to get closer to the fire of the Holy Ghost and of other burning believers and stay there. In no time, you are going to get burning again.
Do not get discouraged. Do not get tired. Your fire never went out. It only became an ember. All you need to do is spend time consistently fanning it to flame.

This is so solid and very timely.
Thank you so much.✨
